Boxing Australia is currently seeking Expression of Interest from individuals to join the Boxing Australia High Performance Committee. 
 
The High-Performance Committee is a standing sub-committee of the BAL Board, established under clause 19.1 of the BAL Constitution and governed by the High-Performance Committee Charter. 
 
HP Committee members contribute to BAL's high-performance governance by bringing independent expertise, strategic perspective and sound judgement to the oversight of BAL's high-performance program. Members work collaboratively with fellow committee members, the HP executive team and the BAL Board to help BAL achieve sustained excellence at the elite level.
 
Key responsibilities
As a member of the HP Committee, you will be expected to:
  • Prepare for and actively participate in HP Committee meetings (held every two months, scheduled approximately three weeks prior to Board meetings, in person or by electronic means);
  • Review HP program reports, strategies, policies, budgets and KPI updates provided in advance of meetings;
  • Contribute independent expertise and perspective to the HP Committee's deliberations, recommendations and endorsements;
  • Support the HP Committee's oversight of BAL's high performance culture, athlete wellbeing and safety;
  • Participate in post-Pinnacle Event program reviews and other HP program reviews as requested; 
  • Contribute to the HP Committee's annual self-assessment and performance review;
  • Comply at all times with BAL's Conflicts of Interest Policy, including by disclosing all actual, potential or perceived conflicts of interest; and
  • Maintain the confidentiality of HP Committee deliberations and BAL's high performance information

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

Coach / Team Manager – 2026 Youth Olympic Games, Dakar, Senegal

Boxing Australia Limited (BAL) is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced coaches for the combined role of Coach / Team Manager to the Australian Boxing Team at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal.

The successful applicant will play a key leadership role in supporting the Australian Youth Team throughout the preparation and competition period, ensuring athletes are provided with a high-performance environment and professional team support.

Role Overview

Working closely with Boxing Australia's High Performance and Performance Pathway staff, the Coach / Team Manager will provide on-the-ground coaching, leadership, and team management for the Australian Youth Olympic boxing team across the preparation, travel, and competition period. The role combines technical coaching responsibility with the operational, welfare, and integrity obligations of a Team Manager.

Key Responsibilities

     Coaching: Provide technical, tactical, and competition-day coaching to selected athletes, including bout preparation, cornering, and performance feedback.

     Team leadership: Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the team, including travel, accommodation, training schedules, and competition logistics, in conjunction with BAL staff.

     Primary contact: Act as the principal point of contact between athletes, BAL, the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC), and Games organisers on team operations and welfare matters.

     Athlete welfare: Support athlete wellbeing and discipline, and oversee compliance with BAL's Codes of Conduct, team agreements, and AOC Team Membership requirements for the Youth Olympic Games delegation.

     Reporting: Liaise with BAL's High Performance and Performance Pathway staff on athlete progress, and contribute to post-Games reporting and review.

     Integrity and safeguarding: Uphold anti-doping, child safeguarding, and competition integrity obligations throughout the preparation and competition period.

     Incident management: Manage and escalate any disciplinary, welfare, or operational incidents in accordance with BAL policies and procedures.

     Representation: Represent BAL professionally at official functions, technical meetings, weigh-ins, and with media as required.

Selection Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate the following:

     Current Boxing Australia Gold-Level Coaching Accreditation.

     Proven team management and leadership skills.

     Extensive experience working with U19 athletes in a high-performance environment.

     Active involvement in national and/or international team activities within the past 12–18 months, particularly with U19 athletes.

     Ongoing contribution to Boxing Australia's National and International Pathway Programs.

     Strong communication, organisational, and athlete management capabilities.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

     Be a current registered member of their State Boxing Association.

     Hold a current Working with Children Check.

     Hold a current National Police Check.

     Hold a current Australian passport valid for international travel.

     Have completed the required Sport Integrity Australia online education modules, including:

     Anti-Doping Fundamentals

     Child Safeguarding

     Competition Manipulation and Sport Gambling

     Hold and maintain current Boxing Australia Gold-Level Coaching Accreditation for the duration of the appointment.

Other Relevant Requirements

     Hold a current First Aid and CPR certification (or be willing to obtain one prior to departure).

     Be willing to sign Boxing Australia's Team Manager / Coach Agreement and comply with the AOC's Team Membership requirements applicable to the Youth Olympic Games delegation.

     Demonstrate compliance with, and a record of upholding, Boxing Australia's Member Protection Policy and Code of Conduct.

     Be available for the full duration of the appointment, including any pre-Games camps, and provide the contact details of two professional referees on request.

Travel and Health Note

Senegal carries a risk of yellow fever transmission, and the Australian Government's Smartraveller advises vaccination ahead of travel. Applicants should ensure their Australian passport remains valid for international travel for the duration of the trip, and should be prepared to obtain any vaccinations, visas, or other travel documentation required for entry to Senegal, in consultation with their GP and BAL team management closer to departure.
