Course Overview
The Gold Level Coach Education Course is the highest coaching qualification offered by Boxing Australia and is designed for elite-level coaches seeking to represent and develop athletes at the national and international level.
Delivered through an immersive face-to-face training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), the program targets high-performance coaches with a demonstrated track record within national and state-level programs.
Participants will explore advanced coaching concepts including performance planning, international trends in boxing, technical analysis, athlete management, and leadership in high-performance environments.
This course represents the top tier of Boxing Australia's coaching pathway:
- Bronze Level: Club Coach
- Silver Level: State Coach
- Gold Level: Australian Coach (International Representation)
Successful completion qualifies coaches for selection into Boxing Australia's National Team coaching pool and international appointments.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Be a current registered member of their relevant State Boxing Association
- Be endorsed by current State Boxing Association
- Hold a valid Silver Accreditation from Boxing Australia (You can download the Silver Coach Manual HERE)
- Possess a current Working with Children Check (or equivalent in their state/territory)
- Hold a valid Australian passport
- Have completed the following Sport Integrity Australia e-learning modules:
- Anti-Doping Fundamentals Anti-Doping Annual Fundamentals (or Anti-Doping Annual update (current year) if previously completed)
- Safeguarding Children and Young People in Sport Induction
- Competition Manipulation and Sports Gambling

- Hold a current National Police Check
Selection Criteria
To ensure a merit-based and transparent admissions process, all applications will be assessed and ranked using an 18-point sliding scale, based on the following criteria:
- High-performance involvement: Active in National Team activity during the last four years (2021–2024 Olympic cycle)
- Benchmark Event involvement Internationally
- National Team involvement domestically
- Pathway engagement:
- Active involvement in National pathway programs
- Active involvement in State pathway programs
- Performance outcomes: Demonstrated history of producing:
- Open National Champions, and/or
- Boxing Australia-selected Australian representatives
Note: Selections are competitive. Only the highest-ranked applicants, based on the 18-point scale will be accepted into the course.
Course Structure & Delivery
The course includes two key components:
- Pre-Course Assessments. All pre-course assessments will be required to be submitted by the nominated due date in order to progress to the face to face delivery. The pre-course assessment will consist of 3 separate tasks:
- Participants will be required to submit recorded demonstrations of coaching tasks across a variety of topics
- Videos will assess coaching delivery, technique, tactical insight, and communication
- Participants will submit a specified training program following periodisation training principles
- Participants must use the Boxing Australia boxer profile assessment tool to submit a boxer assessment

Professional Accreditation
On successful completion, participants will be awarded the Boxing Australia Gold Level Coaching Accreditation, enabling them to:
- Eligible for invitations towards high performance activity (across camps or competitions)
- Hold leadership roles within Boxing Australia’s elite coaching structure
- Act as mentors within the national coaching pathway

All successful applicants must adhere to:
- The Boxing Australia Code of Conduct
- The National Team Policies and Procedures
- Ethical and professional standards consistent with high-performance environments
How to Apply
Expressions of Interest must be submitted via the official application by COB 25 August 2025.
All eligible applications will be ranked using the 18-point scale, and only top-ranking coaches will be offered places in the course.
