2022 Underage Australian Boxing Championships
Published Tue 12 Jul 2022
It was back on the road for our upcoming champions, with eight states contesting for gold. 137 athletes, 47 coaches, 8 team managers and 14 referees and judges headed down to the Whitehouse Club in Burwood East, Melbourne for the Australian National Championships 7-10 July 2022.
Many athletes backed up performances over the three days, making thrilling bouts. The crowd was electric! There was no shortage of excitement and inspiring moments to take from the event - bring on the 2023 Australian U19, 17, 15, 13 Australian Boxing Championships.
Fellow Youth boxers continued to make a name for themselves throughout the championships, trying to catch the eye of selection committee members, Jamie Pittman, Phillip Goodes and Geoff Peterson, for the 2022 IBA Youth World Championships in Spain during November.
A very special thank you to Boxing Victoria and to all the staff and volunteers who helped to organise and run this event. Without your efforts, support and commitment, these events would not be possible.
Congratulations to all the athletes and Member Associations who won medals and trophies.
