High Performance Updates

It has been a busy few weeks for Australian boxers on the international stage. Here’s the latest from Finland, Montenegro and Senegal.
Tammer Tournament – Finland
Marlon Sevehon, one of Boxing Australia's Podium Potential categorised athletes, has won the prestigious Tammer Tournament in Finland. This is an outstanding result against a quality international field and another important performance benchmark as Marlon continues his progression towards the LA 2028.
Equally pleasing was the performance of teenager Darcy O'Malley, who is continuing his transition through our National Pathway Program, winning a bronze medal. Eve Bryson also performed well in the tournament and and is to be congratulated.
U19 Youth World Championships – Montenegro
Our U19 Youth World Championship team has arrived home safely from Montenegro.
A highlight of the campaign was Junior Taulialia Navosa's top-eight finish. Junior secured two impressive victories before being defeated in his third bout by the eventual gold medallist from Uzbekistan. Competing at this level provides invaluable experience for our athletes.
These championships are an important part of understanding the international standard, identifying performance gaps and preparing our next generation of boxers for the transition into senior international competition.
Congratulations to the whole Australian U19 Youth World Championship team!
Youth Olympic Games – Dakar, Senegal
Our three Youth Olympic athletes, Maia Laird, Belle Spicer and Marley Dodd, have settled into the Athletes' Village in Dakar, Senegal. The boxing competition is scheduled to commence in approximately five days.
