Selection Criteria for Australian Team to 2022 IBA Men’s and Women’s Youth World Championships

The 2022 Australian Under 19 Years of Age Men’s and Women’s Championships to be conducted 7-9 July in Melbourne in association with the 2022 Australian U17/U15/U13 Men’s and Women’s Championships will be pivotal in determining selection of the Australian Team to the IBA Men’s and Women’s Youth World Championships. Please note that a boxer does not automatically make the team if he or she ‘wins’ their weight category at the Australian Championships – what is of crucial importance is that the Team Selection Panel has the view that a boxer has a realistic chance of winning a medal at the Youth World Championships.

The members of the Team Selection Panel are the members of the Boxing Australia Selectors Committee members (Jamie Pittman, Phil Goodes and Geoff Peterson) and the other members of the National Futures Program Selection Panel (Mark Evans, Nudge Meili, Marcos Amado, Sean Nash and Andrew Smith).

Please, also, note the requirement in the Selection Criteria for boxers nominated for selection to the Australian Team to the 2022 IBA Men’s and Women’s Youth World Championships to pay $2,700 to Boxing Australia by 30 September 2022, to assist in meeting their costs of air travel, accommodation, meals and outfitting to be incurred in their competing in the Youth World Championships – Boxing Australia will meet the costs in excess of this amount.
